Kids' summer camp focuses on performing arts

August 16, 2015

The Riverside Foundation for the Performing Arts recently held its eighth Summer Musical Theater Camp. Students ages 8 and older from area Family Life organizations participate, free of charge. With the assistance of PNC Bank, Duff McDuff Jr. Fund, the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region and the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, the camp provided music, choreography, acting and stage techniques to 34 students. All instructors are working professionals; two of the instructors appear in “The Wedding Singer” play at the Riverside Dinner Theater. All the students come from Family Life Organizations in our area. Many of the campers from previous years are now pursuing musical theater careers in many of the local theater organizations, the Foundation said..
